This is one of the shows which does what it says on the tin, and buy does it do it brilliantly! Tom Fox attempts - and succeeds - in bringing Wells' masterpiece to life, however this production is also prepared to highlight some of the shortcomings of the writing, especially in it's depiction (or lack of depiction) of female characters; an issue resolved with the help of stage manager Becky.

Another unexpected joy of the show is the inclusion of new songs, written by the Lamphouse Theatre team and well sung by Fox.

For me the Edinburgh Fringe should be about people showing how they use their imagination to overcome practical limitations, and on that score War of The Worlds (on a Budget) is a triumph.

Highly recommended.

War Of The Worlds (on a Budget) was extremely funny to watch and the sound was super well done too. The props were simple, but were used incredibly to make it such a funny show. A range of different styles of music was used in various different songs throughout the show, all of which were excellent, but my favourite being "We're a Self-Appointed Group of White Middle-Class Men" with their white flags.

The characters were also developed really well and the lights and sound were used very creatively (especially the loop pedal).

Overall, it was a superb show that I would go and see again multiple times and I would definitely recommend this to anyone, even if you haven't seen the actual film yet!
