Sooz Kempner: Playstation

PBH's Free Fringe @ Banshee Labyrinth ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Not long after seeing this show I saw a tweet from Sooz Kempner saying that this show was her favourite she had done this year and possibly EVER at the fringe. I think it is safe to say that every member of the audience that attended the show would agree with her, this was without doubt the best stand-up show I saw at the Fringe this year.

Kempner is on good form even before the show has started with a guessing game for the arriving audience based around Playstation songs. The venue is small, probably too small if I’m honest as I would imagine she would have no problem selling at least twice as many tickets each day. Thankfully though the room is cool, which helps make for a great show as everyone in the room can relax and enjoy themselves, and enjoy themselves they do.

Using the arrival of the Sony Playstation into her and her brother’s box room as kids as the starting point for a story about being a grown up we are treated to a superb show bursting with energy from start to finish. This includes some excellent singing, a bit of dancing and clever use of the big screen in the room where - amongst other things - we meet her Mum giving permission for a particularly good joke.

I would imagine this show will continue to play to a packed room for the rest of the Fringe so if you can, get to Banshee Labyrinth early and pick up one of the placeholders for this show. You will not regret it.
