Bishops
Gilded Balloon, Patter Hoose
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Darkchat gang love sketch comedy and have been brought up on the likes of "The Penny Dreadfuls", "Idiots of Ants", "Pappy's", and "The Ginge, The George and the Geek". Comedy goes in cycles and, sadly, in recent years we have been disappointed by the gradual disappearance of good sketch comedy from The Fringe.
"Bishops" are Chris Curran and Noah Matthews and tick all the sketch comedy boxes. I wouldn't call Chris the straight man in the partnership but it is Noah who generally plays the more active, bouncy characters causing chaos with Chris looking confused or trying to create some level of order .
The success of this type of show always revolves around the quality of the performers and their material. Again, Bishops tick all the boxes required, especially the likeability of the performers which can't be over stated. If you can't warm to them as people you really aren't likely to engage in the show.
I won't reveal the sketches themselves, you can see them for yourselves when you see the show, which you should, as I found myself laughing throughout the entire hour. Fortunately , despite sitting in the front row, I wasn't the one picked to go on stage and get involved in their silly antics, which is definitely worth an extra half a star.
Highly recommend. Go
Bishops are on at Gilded Balloon Patter Hoose until August 27th (not 15th)
