Biscuit Barrel: The 69-Sketch Show
Gilded Balloon Teviot - Sportsmans
⭐️⭐️
Having attended a total of 22 Edinburgh festivals, 16 as a reviewer I have become a pretty good judge of which shows to see and which to avoid. "Biscuit Barrel" was selected by another Darkchatter who then booked to see something else so I took their place. I do like sketch comedy but the premise of 69 of them in an hour didn't fill me with a lot of confidence, but hey ho, I believe in keeping an open mind at all times and would have loved to have been proved wrong.
Unfortunately, I wasn't. They just didn't allow themselves time to set up a sketch properly and the speed at which they performed meant there were plenty of mix ups. There was a running theme of sorts, which had an impressive resolution but generally the writing and performances felt quite slapdash.
To be fair the venue was packed and everyone else seemed to be having a good time so perhaps it was just me.
If you want to see good sketch comedy I would recommend seeing something else that we saw earlier this festival . (That was probably not the poster quote they were hoping for).
Biscuit Barrel: The 69-Sketch Show is on at
Gilded Balloon Teviot until August 28th (not 15th)
